Unfortunately, there are no overnight homeless shelters in Ellis County. The organizations listed in Ellis County are mostly transitional homes to help you with a new start.
All the organizations listed may have requirements to use their services. Please check with your choice to see if you qualify.

Provides interim housing to local individuals from Ennis and their families who are homeless or on the verge of becoming homeless due to a crisis. Our goal is to provide a safe place for these people to get back on their feet. A Christian response of shelter and service.

Bridges Safehouse seeks to encourage, empower and equip pregnant, homeless women and women in crisis, and their children, by providing short-term shelter, resources, life-skills raining, and mentoring while in our care.
Women must be 18-24 years old; if over 24, they will assist with diapers and
wipes.

The Family Abuse Center offers a free, safe and confidential place for adults and children to begin to experience life without violence. Our professional staff listen, advocate and provide moral support to all victims of domestic violence seeking counseling, intervention, shelter, transportation help, job and life skills education, and more.

A faith-based nonprofit that assists children and their families who have lost or are at risk of losing their housing. They provide food and shelter and are a good source of resources.

May be able to provide housing assistance to persons with HIV in Ellis County. Funds are distributed as available.

We fulfill our mission by providing food, clothing, and financial (rent/mortgage, and TXU utility bills) assistance to families in crisis who live in Alma, Avalon, Bardwell, Bristol, Ennis, Garrett, Palmer, and Rockett. Assistance is subject to the qualification of clients, and utility providers involved. Does not provide funds for motels.

Women’s shelter for any of life’s circumstances. They provide a faith-based safe environment for women and their children with a goal of helping women become self-sufficient.
Homeless women must be 18 or older and male children must be 12 or under.

There are 68 studio rentals that can accommodate 1 adult & 2 small children. Furnished with 1 twin bed, table, 2 chairs, stove, refrigerator and microwave. As of 4/2021, the rentals range from $90-145 per week (utilities

Traditional housing for youth aging out of foster care, single parent households and pregnant women. Provides employment guidance, educational resources, assistance for applying to mainstream benefits, counseling and additional services related to foster care and adoption. Allow 2 3 wks for intake process to be completed. Can serve 17 single parent families and 6 transitional living clients. Must have a vehicle. Babies must be at least 6 wks old.

The Salvation Army’s mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in his name without discrimination. The Waxahachie location does not provide shelter and does not provide transportation to other locations; those in need of shelter must go to either to Dallas (near Parkland Hospital) or Tarrant County. Does not pay for hotels.
